Pros and cons of Al-Mawrid Al-Qareeb Arabic-English Dictionary app for iPhone and iPad

Al-Mawrid Al-Qareeb Arabic-English Dictionary app good for

Very nice app, with audio pronouciation, however, there were not all the english words I was looking for. If you need to search an arabian word, you just need to previously deal with your keybord in settings>general>international keybords(directly in your iphone settings).

So far its been useful. This edition is of course the abridged of the full al-mawrid. So as long as you keep expectations in check, its a worthy purchase. Intermediate and advanced beginners of Arabic would find this an efficient tool.

An ideal dictionary for me is bi lingual user interface ,because if we ,me and an Arab speaking person showing our iPhone or iPad dictionary and we both did not read well at least we could both see and navigate the dictionary settings and also Roman transliteration of Arabic and English. And bilingual user interface and how to use I wonder there is a word appearing in search field automatically which I used in a private e-mail ,strange ! , and the entries need a sentence to put the word in context ex numbers has several Arabic alternatives how do I know which one to use . Then like most Dictionaries I have used are not designed for speakers of both the languages that are entered in them This dictionary is made for Arabs learning English and not English speakers learning Arabic but I am patient InshaAllah. In Addition I have now discovered on opening the English Search field after deleting my e-mail account that a word I used in my private e-mail is gone so there is a privacy issue arisen here.

I have been learning Arabic for a about a year, and I must admit that it quite hard. I hope that this dictionary will accelerate my studies. At least I contains all the words I have searched for.

I have already used Paragon SP-EN dictionary and its interface was really childish. Here I faced the same fact! It is so funny. People, if you want to earn money, you need to create a product which will look authoritative. Especially if this is a reference products. Please, think over.

I really love this dictionary! I was looking for an app or ebook for Arabic. I am majoring in Arabic and want to clear a few things up that other users have said. First this is a dictionary so it will not translate a full sentence. Sometimes you will have to use synonyms to find the word in Arabic. Again this is literally a dictionary. You can look up Arabic to English translations. In order to do this you have to add Arabic as a keyboard on your device (under settings in your iPhone) . No there is not sound for Arabic words. This is a dictionary and therefore will help you learn Arabic but will not be your main tool.

Some bad moments

How can we make search of a word From arabic to english?! The keyboard is not international!

The translation is presented in arabic letters - very, very small - NO AUDIO. For a native arabic speaker who is about to learn english quite ok, for somebody who needs/wants to learn arabic this APP - in this form - is almost useless.

The stupidest $15 I ever spent in my life, this dictionary misses at least 50-75% from words, almost cant find any word , Ill be very grateful if u take your app and give me my money back.

Dont buy it! Its not worth the 14$ So many words are missing, both in Arabic and English !

With the latest pathetic attempt to try and charge $20 Im so done with this. Many free and better apps out there to think you can actually charge that much is just sheer insanity.

I am very disappointed the Al-Mawrid version for the iPhone has serious problems. Basic words such as "data" and "internet" are missing, the font size is very small (hardly legible), no plurals are given, and the imperfect form of verbs is not given. The state of Arabic dictionaries in general is truly awful, but I would expect such a famous dictionary as Al-Mawrid can do a little better than that.
