Al-Mawrid Al-Qareeb Arabic-English Dictionary App Reviews

Should have more words for its high cost

First of all, to the person who said this app has no Arabic text entry: Arabic text entry is enabled from the Keyboard options in Settings. Apps themselves dont "have" Arabic text entry. Other than that, it needs for words for its high cost...it gets many words, but not many rare and classical words. And as another reviewer said, it should contain the present tense of 3-letter verbs (is it yafal or yafil or yaful?)

Amazing dictionary, great app

Greatest dictionary become greater app, developers never abandon it which is a great thing "meaning there is updates once in a while", and it iPad compatible :) keep the updates coming guys.

An Excellent Dictionary

يا سادتي، شكرًا جزيلاً للقاموس الرائع!

Limted and expensive

I think it is overpriced for an app. Also some words in Arabic and English could not be found.. Due to limitations I beleive..

Not for advance users

If you are an advance user, then this dictionary is not for you. This dictionary is missing so many words for dictionary with such a price tag. If you are an everyday user, there are cheeper ones or even free ones thatll do the job.

Great tool

Works great. Here are a few things to be pointed out: 1. It is an offline dictionary. Doesnt require internet access. 2. It does not have an Arabic keyboard but that is because it uses the iOS system keyboard, so if you need to input in Arabic, dont complain, just go to settings and add the Arabic keyboard (some reviewer was complaining). 3. The user interface is not very neat and isnt redesigned for iOS 7 yet. But who cares as long as it works well. 4. Do not expect to find a whole lot of medical terminology in it, youll be disappointed. 5. It is more than a translation tool, if you spend the time to learn the rest of the tools included youll realize how handy the app is. 6. There are instances of words merged together (errors), but that only showed up a couple of times. 7. I use this in addition to Google Translate, not one or the other. Note: I am a native Arabic speaker, I use the dictionary mainly from English to Arabic. So not sure if point 7 above apply from Arabic to English. Hope this helps.

iPhone 6 issues

Please update for the iPhone 6. Im unable to open it Thanks!

Doesnt work with iOS 8

Doesnt work with iOS 8 need update

great app

this is a great app ever I used, helpful and comprehensive

Useful, comprehensive. Best app for students

Best app Ive ever paid for. I bought it in 2nd year Arabic class and used it constantly for class. Its better than carrying around a dictionary (Id pay for Hans too). Ive downloaded it on every iPad and iPhone since then. Used it for 7 years and it only gets better. As Ive traveled, translated, and learned new worlds Ive found it always helpful. Theres flash cards and a history of words looked up which are a great way to look up new vocab youve found recently. Honestly, I usually go for free apps, but Ive never regretted the $14 I spent on this app.

Excilent

Worths every benny.

Thanks...

Thank you for price reduction... 1.99$ 2014/12/04

There is a need for a comprehensive Arabic e-dictionary. This isnt it.

There is definitely a lot of material in Al-Mawrid Al Qareeb, and the presentation isnt bad. However there are some glaring functional omissions in this application in order that it may truly function as a pocket English-Arabic Dictionary and replacement for the printed variety. The biggest flaw is namely that none of the nouns indicate the plural form of the word. That mistake aside, there are also many common words Ive come across in everyday colloquial Levantine and Gulf Arabic speech that do not appear in this book. The developers need to polish off the content a bit more before they can use the name Al Mawrid (connoting the comprehensiveness of the printed version) for this iOS app.

Great dictionary

The best dictionary in the Apple Store for advanced learners & academics

No help

I do not recommend this app because it is of no help. It does not include contexts of words in the translations. The translation is of no help to me. I search how to say "play" in Arabic, and it just gives me a list of uncontextualized arabic words. Some refer to playing as in enjoying oneself. Others refer to play as in theater. And so forth. Which word should i use for which situation. The app doesnt give me a single clue. A complete waste of money.

Mo

This is no help, dont buy, go spend your money on something will get you a benefit, i have used too many dictionaries and this is the worse ive ever seen (" junk and hard to use, waste of time)"
